Kentucky Flooding Claims At Least 8 Lives Amid Widespread Rescues

At least eight people, including a child, have died due to severe flooding in Kentucky over the weekend, Anadolu Agency reported citing Governor Andy Beshear. During a news conference, Beshear confirmed the fatalities and warned that the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue, with over 1,000 water rescues reported.

Heavy rainfall has caused significant flooding across Kentucky and neighboring states, leading to road closures and dangerous conditions. “We are seeing dangerous and life-threatening conditions across the state,” Beshear stated, urging residents to avoid traveling through flooded areas to prevent further fatalities.

The governor has requested an emergency disaster declaration from President Donald Trump to secure federal assistance for the affected regions. Evacuations are ongoing as severe weather persists, with more than 300 road closures reported. Beshear emphasized the importance of caution and patience as rescue operations continue in the wake of this devastating weather event.
