Pope Leo XIV has renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East, expressing deep concern over the ongoing conflict and its humanitarian consequences.

Speaking during his weekly Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square, the Pope described the war as a “scandal to the whole human family,” citing the growing number of civilian casualties and widespread suffering.

He said he is closely monitoring developments in the region and other conflict zones, emphasizing that the suffering of innocent civilians “cannot be ignored” and affects all humanity.

The Pope urged all parties involved to halt hostilities and return to dialogue, stressing that violence cannot bring lasting peace and calling for renewed diplomatic efforts.

His remarks come amid escalating regional tensions, as he continues a series of appeals in recent weeks advocating for peace and humanitarian protection.
