Pope Leo XIV Calls for Immediate Ceasefire, End to Violence in Middle East

Pope Leo XIV, head of the Catholic Church, has urged an immediate halt to wars and an end to violence in the Middle East, emphasizing the protection of innocent civilians.

In statements and speeches from Vatican City, the Pope expressed deep sorrow for victims, particularly children and non-combatants, stressing that violence cannot bring justice, stability, or peace. He called for dialogue and a ceasefire to address ongoing conflicts.

Highlighting civilian casualties in countries including Iran and Lebanon, he urged political leaders, including those from Christian communities involved in earlier conflicts, to examine their consciences and work toward resolving the crises.

According to Vatican News, the Pope reiterated the need to reopen dialogue channels and stop hostilities, amid continued attacks and displacement affecting families across the region.
