UNICEF Demands Probe into Deadly Mosque Attack in Sudan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the recent deadly attack on a mosque in El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, Sudan.

According to Anadolu Agency cited by Shia Waves Agency, at least 75 people were killed, including 11 children aged between 6 and 15, in the assault. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell described the attack as “horrific and unacceptable.”

Russell warned that children in El-Fasher have been under siege by Rapid Support Forces for more than 500 days, leaving them without access to adequate food, clean water, or medical care.

UNICEF stressed the urgent need to protect civilians and ensure justice for the victims, while reiterating calls for accountability and stronger humanitarian measures in the conflict-hit region.
