Swedish Court orders deportation of Quran-offender Iraqi refugee
The Swedish Migration Court has confirmed that an Iraqi man who staged a series of public Quran burnings last year will be deported, Anadolu Agency reported Wednesday.
While Salwan Momika has been accused of providing false information in his asylum application, his actions of burning the Quran are deemed as a serious crime as they stirred protests in Muslim countries and caused diplomatic tensions.
Last year, the Iraqi expatriate set fire to a copy of the Quran in a neighborhood in Stockholm where the majority of residents are Muslims.
Many Islamic countries condemned the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden and demanded that the Swedish government deal seriously with this Iraqi refugee and ban the burning of the Koran.
