3 Friends Journey on Horseback from Spain to Hajj, Reach Sarajevo

Three friends, Abdelkader Harkassi, Abdallah Hernandez, and Tariq Rodriguez, have completed a three-month horseback journey from southern Spain to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of their Hajj pilgrimage, Anadolu Agency reported. Their aim is to retrace the historical pilgrimage route taken by Andalusian Muslims 500 years ago.

Traveling over 8,000 kilometers, they passed through several countries, including Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro, before arriving in Sarajevo. During their stop, they explored the historic Baščaršija district, attracting attention from locals and tourists alike, and visited Ottoman-era landmarks.

Harkassi described their arrival in Sarajevo as a highlight, expressing gratitude for the hospitality received. The group faced logistical challenges, particularly at border crossings, notably being denied entry into Serbia due to government issues. Despite these obstacles, they remain excited about their journey and are acquiring new horses as they continue towards Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage.
