Fifteen Arrested in Netherlands Over ISIS Propaganda on TikTok

Dutch police have arrested 15 people on suspicion of spreading propaganda linked to extremist ISIS-affiliated groups on the social media platform TikTok and inciting others to commit terrorist crimes, The Defence Post reported.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the suspects include Syrian and Dutch nationals, and four of those detained are minors. Authorities said the group is accused of producing and disseminating videos and other online content promoting extremist ideology, some of which attracted large audiences.

Investigators reported that the publication of such content began in August 2025. Several of the videos allegedly received more than 100,000 views, raising concerns among security services about the reach and influence of extremist messaging on popular social media platforms, particularly among younger users.

Dutch police said the arrests were carried out as part of a nationwide operation targeting online radicalization and the spread of terrorist propaganda. Prosecutors allege that the content not only glorified extremist groups but also encouraged or incited viewers to engage in terrorist-related activities.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and warned that further arrests remain possible as inquiries continue. Dutch officials have stressed that countering online extremism, especially on platforms widely used by teenagers and young adults, remains a key security priority.

The Netherlands, like several European countries, has increased monitoring of social media in recent years amid concerns about digital platforms being used to recruit, radicalize, and mobilize individuals for extremist causes.
