Netherlands Flags Israel as Threat to National Interests for First Time

For the first time, the Netherlands has listed Israel as a potential threat to its national interests, according to a new report from the Dutch National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV), as cited by Anadolu.

The report, Threat Assessment from State Actors, accuses Israel of attempting to influence Dutch public opinion and political processes through disinformation.

One cited case involved an Israeli ministry distributing a document containing personal details about Dutch citizens amid tensions surrounding pro-Israel demonstrations in Amsterdam.

The NCTV also voiced concern over threats from Israel and the U.S. targeting the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, warning such actions could undermine the court’s operations.

A separate investigation by The Guardian and partners in 2024 detailed a nine-year Israeli campaign involving surveillance and pressure on ICC officials. Despite this, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders in 2023 over alleged war crimes in Gaza.
