Construction of Northern Italy’s Largest Mosque Halted Over Financial Issues
———————————————
The city council of Sesto San Giovanni in Milan province has announced the suspension of plans to build what was set to become the largest mosque in northern Italy, located on Via Luini.
According to ANSA cited by the Shia Waves Agency, the project was halted due to the Islamic Cultural Center’s failure to meet financial commitments and a lack of sufficient funding. The council reported that the center has not paid €320,000, covering land costs, additional project expenses, and parking facilities.
The suspension raises uncertainty over the future of the mosque, which was expected to serve as a major hub for Italy’s growing Muslim community.
