Greece Extends School Closures on Aegean Islands Due to Earthquake Activity

Schools on the Aegean islands of Santorini, Ios, Anafi, and Amorgos will remain closed until February 14, following a decision by Greek authorities in response to recent seismic activity, as reported by public broadcaster ERT, Anadolu Agency reported.
A committee of officials and experts determined that extending the closures was necessary as a precaution. The schools had originally shut down on February 3 due to the seismic events.

In addition, all public gatherings have been canceled, and residents are advised to refrain from congregating in enclosed spaces to mitigate the risk of a significant earthquake.
Emergency preparedness efforts have been enhanced, with search and rescue teams, drones, and generators deployed to the affected regions.
