Germany Considers Civil Defense Lessons in Schools Amid Security Concerns

Germany’s Federal Interior Ministry is proposing the introduction of civil defense lessons in schools to prepare students for potential crises and war situations, Anadolu Agency reported. The ministry has offered to provide experts and teaching materials to federal states responsible for school curricula.
A ministry spokesman stated that recent changes in the security landscape necessitate a greater focus on civil defense education. Senior conservative lawmaker Roderich Kiesewetter emphasized the need for crisis training, noting that students are particularly vulnerable in emergencies.
Additionally, the Interior Ministry has encouraged citizens to follow EU recommendations by stockpiling three days’ worth of essential supplies to prepare for crises. This proposal arises amid growing concerns about Russia’s military capabilities, with Germany’s top general warning of a potential attack on a NATO country within the next four to seven years.
