Another Islamic Center Closed in Germany Over Alleged Links to Hamas
The government of Brandenburg, Germany, announced on Thursday, September 12, that it has shut down another Islamic center due to alleged connections with Hamas and the promotion of extremist ideologies reminiscent of a “stone age.”
According to a statement from Michael Stübgen, the Minister of the Interior for Brandenburg, the Islamic center in Forstenwalde was closed for activities that violate Germany’s constitutional laws.
The local official, a member of the Christian Democratic Union, emphasized that the government has a duty to stifle the activities of institutions promoting outdated ideologies at their inception.
The Forstenwalde Islamic Center began operations in 2018 in eastern Berlin and was classified in 2023 as a religious institution promoting extremist thoughts, particularly for its alleged anti-Semitic views and opposition to the existence of Israel.
