Netherlands Launches Digital Platform to Monitor and Document Attacks on Mosques

A Muslim representative organization in the Netherlands has launched a new digital platform to record and track attacks, threats, and acts of vandalism against mosques and Islamic institutions across the country.

The National Reporting Center for Incidents Targeting Islamic Institutions, established by the Contact Body for Muslims and Government (CMO), allows mosques, councils, and Islamic organizations to submit reports of incidents online.

CMO Chairman Mohsen Göktaş said the platform is designed to provide Muslim communities with a clearer and more accessible way to report incidents, while also helping affected institutions follow up on complaints and receive support after submitting reports.

According to the organization, the platform will collect data and statistics on reported incidents and produce periodic and annual reports to be shared with relevant government bodies, including the Ministry of Justice and anti-discrimination authorities.

Göktaş said underreporting remains a challenge, with some incidents of discrimination and attacks against mosques not being formally reported, meaning official figures may not fully reflect the scale of the issue.

The Dutch police welcomed the initiative while continuing to encourage victims to report incidents through official channels. The platform will also verify reports by communicating with mosque and institution representatives to improve the reliability of collected data.

According to figures cited by Göktaş, Dutch police recorded 414 cases of anti-Muslim discrimination in 2025, including 20 incidents directly targeting mosques.

Organizers said the initiative aims to create a more comprehensive overview of threats against Islamic institutions and support efforts to strengthen protection measures and combat discrimination against Muslims in the Netherlands.
