Albania’s Elbasan Launches Third Summer Camp for Children to Promote Values and Knowledge

The Muftiate of Elbasan province in central Albania has announced the launch of the third edition of its summer camp for children and youth. The program will be held at the “University District” Mosque from June 29 to August 9, 2026.
The educational and developmental program aims to make use of the summer holiday by improving children’s skills and strengthening their connection to Islamic values.
The camp welcomes girls aged 6 to 18 and boys aged 6 to 12. It will run from Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with transportation provided for participants to help children attend the program more easily.
Activities include Islamic education lessons, educational lectures, open discussions, cultural competitions, sports activities, field trips, swimming, and sessions with guests from different fields. The program is designed to develop participants’ knowledge, behavior, and social skills.
The Muftiate said the camp seeks to provide a safe educational environment during the summer break, combining learning with practical activities and helping build children’s character while strengthening their religious and social belonging.
Elbasan is considered one of Albania’s important cities with a strong Islamic heritage. It flourished during the Ottoman era and was home to many mosques and educational institutions, becoming one of the country’s major centers of Islamic culture. Although many of its mosques were destroyed during the communist period, the city regained its religious and educational role after the fall of the regime.
The initiative comes as part of efforts by Islamic institutions in Albania to strengthen Islamic identity and raise generations grounded in knowledge, values, and morals through educational programs for children and youth during school holidays.
