More than 400 women from across Croatia took part in a traditional pre-Ramadan women’s gathering organized by educators from the Islamic community in the southern city of Dubrovnik.

The event was held at the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik and brought together Muslim women from several Croatian cities, including Karlovac, Pula, Rijeka, Sisak, Split, Labin, Umag, Zadar, and Zagreb.

The gathering was organized by female Islamic educators, including Sajda Jukan, Jamila Herić, Melissa Arslani, and Lamija Alili, who have worked to expand and strengthen the initiative in recent years.

The program opened with a recitation of Quranic verses related to Ramadan, followed by welcoming remarks highlighting the importance of faith and collective effort in preparing for the holy month. The evening included religious chants, prayers, poetry, group reflections, and individual presentations focusing on spiritual themes associated with Ramadan.

A Quran recitation competition was also held among representatives of educational circles, aimed at encouraging Quranic learning and improving recitation skills. Selma Jahić from Dubrovnik and Merzita Kljajić from Umag jointly secured first place and received awards and certificates of recognition.

The event concluded with prayers for Ramadan to mark a renewed beginning grounded in faith, peace, and solidarity among Muslim women across Croatia.
