Global Job Growth Forecast Lowered Amid Economic Uncertainty

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has reduced its global employment growth projections for 2025, reflecting broader economic challenges, Dawn E-Paper reported. The adjustment follows similar downward revisions in global GDP estimates by major financial institutions.
The latest World Employment and Social Outlook report highlights vulnerabilities in trade-dependent economies, particularly those reliant on consumer demand from major markets. While some regions show progress in high-skilled employment, persistent gaps remain in workforce equality and job-education alignment.
The report also notes a gradual decline in labor’s share of national income over the past decade, alongside emerging uncertainties about how artificial intelligence may reshape labor markets.
Policymakers are urged to address these structural shifts through targeted workforce development strategies.
