The Hafiz Al-Quran Competition in Australia has been lauded as a successful model for strengthening the Islamic identity of Muslim youth by improving judging standards and expanding participation, IQNA reported. The contest, which combines Quran memorization and recitation, fosters unity among Quran education institutions nationwide, according to SBS Arabic.
Hosted at the Gungahlin Mosque, the competition recently expanded its scope to a national platform. Organizer Ashhad Al-Sulhi noted the aim was to unite institutions under one umbrella for cooperation. The event achieved international standards by including eminent judges like Muhammad Fouad Abdul Majid and by utilizing AI and information systems experts to ensure fairness and accuracy in evaluation.
Furthermore, the contest saw strong engagement from women, with female participation reaching nearly 45 percent. The competition’s focus goes beyond memorization to reviving awareness of the Quran’s aesthetic and moral dimensions.
