In a historic event, Imam Hussein Day was celebrated for the first time in the Victorian Parliament of Australia, thanks to the efforts of Syed Abulqasim Razavi.

This initiative, led by Syed Abulqasim Razavi, the President of the Council of Shia Scholars in Australia and the Imam of Melbourne, marks a significant achievement in promoting interfaith dialogue and recognition of Imam Hussein’s legacy.

The event saw the participation of parliament members, representatives from various faiths including Shia, Sunni, Ahl-e-Haq, Hindu, Sikh, and Christian communities, as well as government officials and academics.

During the gathering, Syed Abulqasim Razavi elaborated on the events of Ashura and Imam Hussein’s uprising against Yazid, emphasizing that the path of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, continues to serve as a model for humanity throughout history.

He stated, “Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is a beacon of guidance and a vessel of salvation. In a time when terrorism and hatred are spreading across the globe, transforming this hatred into peace, reconciliation, and harmonious living is only possible through the teachings of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).”

The President of the Council of Shia Scholars in Australia highlighted the diverse assembly present, noting how Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) unites people of various religions and sects under the banner of humanity.
