Typhoon Kajiki claimed at least three lives and injured 10 others in Vietnam, according to government officials, as reported by Reuters. The storm struck the country’s north central coast on Monday, bringing severe rainfall that led to extensive flooding and property damage.

Nearly 7,000 homes were affected, while around 28,800 hectares of rice fields were submerged. Additionally, 18,000 trees were uprooted, and 331 electricity poles were knocked down, causing widespread power outages in multiple provinces including Thanh Hoa and Nghe An. In Hanoi, heavy rainfall on Tuesday flooded major streets, immobilized traffic, and submerged vehicles.

Residential areas and West Lake also saw rising water levels, just days before the capital is set to host its largest National Day parade in decades. Several villages in Bac Ninh province were cut off by floodwaters. Although Kajiki has weakened into a tropical depression over Laos, authorities warn of ongoing rain and possible landslides in northern Vietnam.
