“Uzbekistan: An Enduring Legacy” Exhibition Highlights Over 1,000 Years of Cultural History in Doha

The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha has opened the exhibition “Uzbekistan: An Enduring Legacy” in partnership with the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, showcasing more than a thousand years of the country’s artistic and cultural heritage.

The exhibition presents 146 historical and artistic works tracing Uzbekistan’s cultural development from the 8th century to the present day, highlighting the influence of Islamic civilization on its architecture, crafts, and visual arts.

The displayed collection includes manuscripts, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, architectural elements from the Timurid era, and major artworks. The exhibition brings together pieces from the Museum of Islamic Art, the Lusail Museum, Qatar National Library, and 13 cultural institutions across Uzbekistan.

Among the participating Uzbek institutions are heritage and art centers from regions including historic Samarkand and the craft development center in Margilan, reflecting the diversity of Uzbekistan’s cultural traditions.

The exhibition focuses on how artistic traditions that developed during the Islamic era continued to shape Uzbek architecture, craftsmanship, and cultural identity into the modern period.

Organizers said the exhibition aims to promote cultural exchange and highlight historical connections between civilizations by presenting Uzbekistan’s rich heritage through a combination of local and international collections.
