Uzbekistan Determines Punishments for Individuals with Long Beards
Uzbekistan’s media has reported that the country’s Supreme Court has penalized several individuals in various cities for having long beards.
In October of last year, the Uzbek government enacted the “Administrative Responsibility Law,” which prohibits face coverings in public spaces when individuals cannot be identified.
Recently, the wearing of long beards by men in public has also resulted in penalties under this law. Violating this regulation can incur fines ranging from $260 to $400.
