Thailand Establishes First National Halal Industry Committee

Thailand has set an ambitious goal to become one of the top five halal exporters in the world and has taken a significant step by forming its first National Halal Industry Committee.

Currently, Thailand ranks eleventh globally in halal exports, despite its potential, due to trade barriers, the credibility of Thai halal certification, and high transportation costs hindering progress.

The establishment of a halal department and the creation of the National Halal Industry Committee have strengthened Thailand’s position as a regional halal hub.

Notably, consumers worldwide prefer certified halal products, and non-Muslims are increasingly turning to the halal sector due to quality concerns and a desire for greater safety.
