Singapore Muslims Donate Canned Korban Meat for Gaza Aid
……………….
Singapore’s Muslim community will send 16 tonnes of canned sheep meat to Palestinians in Gaza in late 2025, Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times reported. Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Faishal Ibrahim said the donation reflects the community’s commitment to supporting those facing humanitarian crises.
The korban meat, prepared during the annual Hari Raya Haji ritual, is processed overseas, mainly in Australia, and distributed locally and abroad. In Singapore, six mosques are approved for korban rituals, while 39 tonnes of meat will be given to about 1,000 local beneficiaries.
Singaporean politician and academic, Prof Faishal, noted that nearly 5,700 orders for overseas korban were placed this year, the highest since 2022. He also announced plans to review expanding local korban operations. The update follows over $2.4 million raised for Gaza aid in early 2025 through a community fund in collaboration with international partners.
