The Philippines has launched its official “Muslim-Friendly Travelogue” to attract more visitors from Muslim-majority countries, Arab News reported. The initiative, introduced by Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco in Makati City, aims to promote halal tourism and highlight destinations across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao that cater to Muslim travelers.

The travel guide features the country’s Islamic heritage, tourist recommendations, and information on halal-certified food and services. Frasco said the project underscores the government’s commitment to making the entire archipelago accessible and welcoming to Muslim tourists.

“‘The Muslim-Friendly Travelogue’ opens new opportunities for the Philippines to reach non-traditional markets and ensure that the benefits of halal tourism are felt nationwide,” she said.
The effort comes as the Philippines seeks to diversify its tourism base beyond China and strengthen ties with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and other Middle Eastern countries.

According to Frasco, visitor arrivals from Muslim-majority nations have risen by 10 percent this year, with increasing numbers from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. In 2024, the Philippines was recognized as an Emerging Muslim-Friendly non-OIC Destination by the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index for the second consecutive year.
