Manila Airport Opens Muslim Prayer Room After Years of Advocacy
……………….

Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila has officially opened a dedicated Muslim prayer room in Terminal 2’s departure area, following years of appeals from the country’s Muslim community.
The newly established space addresses a long-standing absence of proper facilities for Muslim travelers, who previously resorted to praying in crowded, non-designated areas lacking privacy.

The airport authority described the room as calm, properly equipped, and respectful of spiritual needs. The initiative is seen as a significant step toward promoting religious inclusivity in public infrastructure. The Philippines is home to over six million Muslims—many from regions such as Mindanao and Bangsamoro—who frequently pass through Manila for work, education, or religious pilgrimage.

Community leaders and religious organizations welcomed the move, calling it a positive gesture of recognition and respect for Muslim rights and dignity. The decision is also part of a broader national effort to promote cultural and religious diversity in public spaces.
