UK-Based Islamic Relief increases aid delivery in the Philippines
Over 844,000 people have been impacted by severe flooding across the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao and Luzon, following relentless rains that began on July 7.
In response, the UK-based Islamic Relief has provided food packs to over 3,500 families and established communal kitchens in evacuation camps. As further rain is anticipated, the charity organization plans to distribute hygiene kits to an additional 2,400 displaced families, continuing its vital support for affected communities.
The disaster has resulted in at least 8 fatalities, 21 injuries, and 2 individuals reported missing. Local infrastructure and farmlands have suffered extensive damage, with over 300 homes destroyed. Approximately 4,400 families are now displaced, seeking refuge in 31 overcrowded evacuation centers, facing shortages of clean water and food. Health concerns are rising, with illnesses like diarrhea and fever spreading due to inadequate sanitation facilities.
