Hong Kong Hospitals to Implement AI for Early Treatment of High-Risk Patients
The Hong Kong Hospital Authority is set to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its healthcare system to identify and treat high-risk patients at an earlier stage, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
This initiative aims to personalize treatment plans for over 10 million patients across public hospitals.
Dr. Cheung Ngai-tseung, head of information technology and health informatics at the Hospital Authority, emphasized the importance of using AI to enhance clinical management systems. The goal is to provide tailored interventions that are disease-specific and improve communication techniques within healthcare settings, he added.
Currently, the Hospital Authority offers an app for patient records and updates. The planned AI integration could enhance this by reminding patients about prescriptions and lab results in an engaging manner, such as through animated notifications.
