WUC releases fresh data on China’s expanding repression of Uyghurs, global scale of abuse

The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) has outlined a series of international engagements aimed at drawing attention to alleged human rights violations against Uyghurs in East Turkistan, according to a report by Asian News International.
At the One World Human Rights Film Festival in Prague, WUC representatives attended a screening of a documentary featuring survivor testimony on detention and abuse, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.
During the CSW70 Forum in New York City, WUC official Rushan Abbas alleged that Chinese authorities are expanding repression into digital spaces, particularly targeting women. At the United Nations Human Rights Council, Vice President Zumretay Arkin called for coordinated international action on issues including forced labour and religious restrictions.
Additional advocacy took place in Vienna and academic settings, while separate reports raised concerns about surveillance abroad and links between development projects and alleged abuses. China has repeatedly denied such allegations.
