Beijing Book Fair Attracts Crowds with Record 400,000 Titles

The Beijing Book Fair, one of China’s most popular literary events, has opened at Ditan Park with a record 400,000 titles on display. The event, running until September 22, is part of the 2025 Beijing Cultural Forum and is themed “Reading and Meeting a Better Self.”

According to a report by Khaama Press, the fair features books from over 330 publishers, booksellers, and exhibitors across the country. Spanning an area of 18,000 square meters, the event includes ten themed sections, such as classics, modern science, and children’s literature.

The book fair has attracted thousands of visitors and also includes 167 cultural activities, such as literary lectures and author meet-and-greets. The event is seen as an effort to promote a stronger reading culture in China, especially among the youth, and reflects Beijing’s ambition to become a global cultural hub by blending traditional heritage with modern literary engagement.
