Indian American Muslim Groups Condemn Hate Speech, Call for IRS Investigation into Hindu Nationalist Groups in Dallas

The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas) have strongly condemned recent hate speech by Hindu extremist Kajal Singhala, delivered at an event organized by the Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), India Clarion reported. Singhala, known for her history of inciting violence against Muslims and Christians, called for an economic boycott of Muslim-owned businesses in Dallas during the June 29 event.

In a statement, Singhala referred to Muslims using the slur “jihadis” and urged attendees to support Hindu-owned businesses instead, warning that money spent with Muslims could be used to harm their families. The speech has been widely denounced as dangerous and hateful, prompting an interfaith coalition of Muslims and Christians to file a police complaint on July 3, urging authorities to investigate the incident as a bias-motivated hate crime.

IAMC President Mohammad Jawad called on elected officials and federal agencies to take the threat seriously, highlighting parallels with violent rhetoric in India. CAIR-Texas Executive Director Mustafaa Carroll emphasized their ongoing condemnation of all forms of hate speech.

IAMC and CAIR-Texas have also urged the IRS to investigate the tax-exempt status of VHPA and GHHF and called on the Department of Justice to examine their financial links to Indian government and Hindutva groups, including potential Foreign Agents Registration Act violations. They further requested the US Department of State revoke Singhala’s visa and initiate her removal from the country.
