Kais Saied Secures Second Term in Tunisian Presidential Election
Tunisian President Kais Saied has won re-election with 90.69% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the electoral commission.
The election, held on October 6, 2024, saw a turnout of just 28.8%. Saied faced two challengers: his former ally, Zouhair Maghzaoui, leader of the Chaab Party, who has become a critic, and Ayachi Zammel, who was imprisoned last month.
Supporters celebrated the victory in Tunis as exit polls confirmed Saied’s dominance.
It should be mentioned that there are over 12 million Muslims living in this African country.
