With Donations from Bulgarian Muslims: Opening of a New Mosque in Niamey, Capital of Niger
A new mosque has been inaugurated in Niamey, the capital of Niger, funded by donations from the Muslim community in Bulgaria. This initiative is part of charitable efforts aimed at supporting Muslim communities and enhancing religious and humanitarian projects across the African continent.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Grand Mufti of Bulgaria, Sheikh Behan Muhammad, and the Mufti of the Razgrad region, Sheikh Muhammad Aalia, who traveled to Niger to participate in the mosque’s inauguration and related events. Sheikh Behan Muhammad led the congregational Dhuhr prayer coinciding with the official opening, offering congratulations to the local residents on this occasion and expressing hope that the new mosque would become a catalyst for strengthening faith and enhancing religious and social bonds among Muslims.
The opening activities included the distribution of 400 copies of the Quran to participants and a luncheon for approximately 400 individuals, celebrating the mosque’s inauguration with the local community.
Additionally, Sheikhs Behan Muhammad and Muhammad Aalia participated in a humanitarian initiative to distribute meat to needy families, aiming to support the most vulnerable and broaden the scope of charitable activities accompanying the project.
The Muslim community in Bulgaria had previously launched a campaign to collect donations to fund the mosque’s construction and implement several humanitarian initiatives for the benefit of Muslims in Niger.
The inauguration of the mosque is part of the Bulgarian Muslim community’s efforts to support religious and charitable projects in Africa, contributing to the provision of worship places and fostering values of solidarity and cooperation among Muslim communities.
