Moroccan Authorities Arrest Five Suspected Terrorists Linked to ISIS

In a major counterterrorism operation, the Moroccan police have arrested five individuals allegedly connected to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, authorities announced on Friday.

According to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, the suspects, aged between 22 and 46, were apprehended in several cities across the country, including Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, and Essaouira.

“The suspects had pledged allegiance to the ISIS caliphate and expressed their intention to carry out terrorist attacks against key installations and security agencies,” the bureau said in a statement.

The investigation also revealed that one of the members was an electronics expert who planned to manufacture explosive devices.

Moroccan security forces have been praised for their continued efficiency and vigilance in combating the terrorist threat. “This success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our security forces, who have prevented a major threat to our national security,” said a government spokesperson.

Morocco has been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism in Africa, working closely with its regional partners to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
