Blast near police station in northern Kenya leaves 4 people dead, including 3 officers

An explosion at a small hotel near a police station in northeastern Kenya killed four people, including three officers, and injured several others on Monday, the Associated Press reported.

The blast in Mandera, near the Somalia border, was caused by an improvised explosive device planted at the hotel, the police confirmed.

The Sunni extremist group al-Shabab is suspected to be behind the attack, although they have not claimed responsibility.

This comes after another attack on Sunday in Lamu County, where two police reservists were killed.
