At least 15 civilians and one soldier were killed in an attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), authorities confirmed. The raid occurred Sunday in the Ngadi neighborhood north of Beni, North Kivu Province, a conflict-prone area long targeted by the ADF, linked to the Islamic State’s Central Africa Province.

The attack involved multiple homes being damaged, while security forces continue to pursue the militants and strengthen protection for local communities. The Congolese government condemned the raid, describing it as a “criminal attack” and reaffirming that combating the insurgents remains an absolute priority.

Residents and civil society expressed alarm at the escalating violence, which exacerbates displacement and humanitarian needs in the region. Despite ongoing military operations by Congolese and Ugandan forces, the ADF continues to pose a significant threat, targeting civilians and undermining stability in North Kivu and neighboring areas. Authorities stressed that ensuring civilian safety and restoring peace in the region remains urgent.

This incident highlights the persistent security and humanitarian challenges in eastern DRC, where repeated militant attacks continue to affect thousands of lives.
