………………
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that 8,878 African migrants arrived in Yemen in September, marking a 27% increase from August’s 6,985 arrivals.
According to the IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix, 55% of the migrants came from Somalia, mainly entering through Abyan and Shabwah, while 40% arrived from Djibouti via Taiz and Abyan, and 5% from Oman through Al-Mahrah.
Men accounted for 71% of new arrivals, children for 17%, and women for 12%. Tens of thousands of African migrants cross into Yemen each year seeking better economic opportunities or fleeing conflicts in their home countries.
