The joint operation was launched by army and police late on Tuesday and a fierce battle happened during the mission after security forces stormed Taliban militants’ hideouts, killing 10 insurgents and wounding six others in Loyamanda area of Nad Ali district, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Zaman Hamdard told Xinhua.
Some amount of weapons including one PK machine gun, two AK-47 rifles, one M-16 gun have also been seized from the militants, the spokesman added.
The joint security forces also recovered and defused 20 landmines and destroyed 38 military facilities of the militants during the sweep up, with no security personnel killed or wounded.
The militant group has not responded to the report so far.
