The Coordinating Council of German Muslims announced that most of the mosques in the country will reopen on May 9.

It emphasized that the congregational prayer that will be held in mosques will be attended by fewer worshipers and there will be health guidelines for the worshipers to adhere to.

According to the Council’s statement, Muslims will be able to perform their daily prayers in most German mosques from next week, but Friday prayers will remain suspended.

The statement asked all worshipers to adhere to the social distancing plan, to wear masks, and to use carpet mats for each individual to pray.

The German government decided to lift some quarantine restrictions and allow congregational prayers to be held in mosques.
