The Iraqi al-Suqoor Intelligence Cell announced today, Thursday, the thwart of an infiltration attempt of a terrorist group trying to cross from Iraqi territory to Syria on the outskirts of the Rabi’a district of Nineveh.
“The painful strikes of the brave intelligence cell targeting terrorists in Nineveh governorate caused them to flee to Syria, leaving their alleged jihad. We pursued the terrorists all the way to the border,” said Major-General Abdel-Khaleq al-Khikani, director of joint coordination for security and intelligence.
He added, “The al-Suqoor Intelligence Cell, in a qualitative operation in conjunction with the Iraqi army and the Nineveh Intelligence Directorate, ambushed a group of terrorists trying to cross from Iraqi territory to Syria in the suburbs of Rabi’a district on December 29, 2019.”
He continued, “The force managed to kill them,” mentioning that they were wearing explosive belts and carrying hand grenades.
