On the occasion of the International Human Solidarity Day, Free Muslim Nonviolence World Organization called on the international community to intensify efforts to assist the afflicted people.

“The leaders of the international community unanimously consider December 20 of each year as an International Day of Human Solidarity, with the aim of spreading a culture of cooperation, participation and solidarity among peoples in various human affairs, especially generalizing development and prosperity throughout the world and fighting poverty and problems,” said the organization statement. The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolution 60/209 of 17 March 2006, identified solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values on which relations between peoples should be based.

The statement added, “As the Nonviolence Organization adopts that declaration altogether and in detail declaring its absolute solidarity with this global project, it calls on the international community to intensify efforts to extend aid and assistance to the afflicted peoples in particular, especially those still suffering from armed conflict and political and economic turmoil, including material and moral assistance and advice required to get out of its crises.”
