“While reviewing President Ashraf Ghani’s new seven-point peace plan, this condition is not aimed at postponing the talks, but in order for the Taliban to prove that they are controlling their fighters and leaders,” said national security adviser Hamdallah Maheeb.

He added that the parties were briefed on the plan, which stresses Pakistan’s role in the Afghan peace process.

Meanwhile, US special envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalil discussed in Islamabad with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan the latest developments on efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan.

Khalil said his country was still ready to do everything in its power to reach an early peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban.
