Guards reportedly beat hunger-striking detainees at Bahrain’s Jaw Prison on Sunday causing some of the inmates to faint.
Activists say the beatings are part of an ongoing effort by prison authorities to quash a mass hunger strike, which entered its 10th day this week.
During that time, dozens of detainees have been thrown into solitary confinement while others were denied family visits and stripped of their communication privileges.
An estimated 600 detainees are on hunger strike in Bahrain’s Jaw and Dry Dock prisons protesting against inhumane conditions and intensified abuses.
