The decision of the Indian authorities to revoke prayer permission in 8 mosques in the Gurgan area raised a wave of tension among all Muslims in the capital, Delhi, amid fears of more campaigns to revoke permission to pray.
The authorities in the Gurgan district, a suburb of Delhi, decided to revoke permission for Muslims to perform prayers in eight mosques out of 37 “designated” prayer sites, after “objection” by some residents.
The Indian authorities have also warned against further revocation of permissions to pray in other locations at the request of residents.
The police also prevented worshipers from performing Friday prayers in one of the Gurgan mosques.
