The United Nations reveals ISIS Terrorist Organization’s wealth

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a report that ISIS owns up to $300 million after losing the so-called “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria, with no financial demands to control territory and population.

 

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a report that ISIS owns up to $300 million after losing the so-called “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria, with no financial demands to control territory and population.

In the report, which was presented to the Security Council on the threat posed by the terrorist group, Guterres stated that the low frequency of attacks by the armed group “may be temporary.”

He said he believed ISIS was able to channel these funds to support “terrorist acts” inside Iraq, Syria and abroad using services such as illegitimate money transfer companies.

The terrorist organization also encourages increased financial self-sufficiency through a network of supporters and affiliates elsewhere in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
