Gunmen kill 100 civilians in an attack in northern Burkina Faso

The Burkina Faso government confirmed that gunmen killed about 100 civilians in an attack on a village in the north of the country.
The government announced in a statement, “The attack occurred last night and resulted in the killing of residents of Solhan village, and the burning of homes and the market,” describing the attackers as “terrorists.”
The security situation deteriorated sharply in Burkina Faso last May, as the number of terrorist attacks, especially targeting civilians in isolated villages in the north of the country, doubled.
The northern region of Burkina Faso, especially near Niger and Mali, is the region most affected by the armed attacks carried out by terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIS.
