Tajikistan President: ISIS being shifted to Afghanistan to target central Asian nations

International terrorist organizations like ISIS want to turn the republics of Central Asia into religious states, trying by all means to seize power.

International terrorist organizations like ISIS want to turn the republics of Central Asia into religious states, trying by all means to seize power. This was stated by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the plenary session of the high-level conference “International and regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism and its sources of financing, including drug trafficking and organized crime” in Dushanbe.

“If we bear in mind our region, then it should be noted that the actions of extremist and radical groups also pose a serious threat to the countries of Central Asia. They disguise their mercenary goals with religious slogans and gather their supporters under the banner of the struggle for social justice. However, in reality, they aim to change the secular structure of the region’s states and use all means and methods to seize political power,”said Emomali Rahmon.

According to Rahmon, at present, the actions of the forces of international terrorism and extremism have shaken the foundations of international security, have caused an unstable situation in various regions of the world and the emergence of threats to the lives and well-being of ordinary citizens.

Rakhmon also noted the need to abandon the use of “double” standards in determining his approach to terrorist and extremist organizations and groups. “Terrorists cannot be divided into their own and others, reformers and radicals, good and bad,” the head of state stressed.

He once again reminded that a certain number of members of the international terrorist network, including ISIS is being transferred to the territory of Afghanistan for a specific purpose.
