The international non-violence organization, Free Muslim, has charged the Egyptian authorities with the safety and security of the detained Uighurian students.
The organization said in a statement, whichShiawavesreceived a copy of, “The organization has seen accurate human rights data confirming that the Egyptian authorities have arrested a number of Islamic Uighurian Chinese students in al-Azharfor political purposes, which constitutes a blatant violation of all human rights and international laws.”
The statement added that “According to the data obtained by the organization, the Egyptian security forces have arrested dozens of students from the Uighurian Chinese minority at Al-Azhar University, at a request by the Chinese government in preparation for the apparent deportation of these students,” noting that any extradition of Uighurian students to the Chinese authorities will represent a clear threat to their lives, especially as the Muslim Uighurs suffer from cultural and religious repression and discrimination by the Chinese authorities.
The organization stressed its condemnation of the Egyptian action against the detained students, calling for their immediate release and not to submit to pressure and political agendas that violate human rights, stressing at the same time that this indicates the disregard of the Egyptian authorities for the status of Al-Azhar and the students of Islamic sciences.
