‏Al-Shabab militants have killed at least 10 people, including soldiers and civilians, in a key Somali town close to the capital Mogadishu after ramming a bomb-laden vehicle into a police station.

‏”We don’t have the exact number of casualties so far but we have seen the dead bodies of more than 10 people, including civilians, who were killed in the attack,” Abdukadir Ahmed, a local police official, told AFP by phone, adding that the attackers also suffered casualties.

‏The al-Shabab militant group has claimed responsibility for the latest deadly attack, which sent shock waves across the region.

‏The terrorist group had evacuated the key town in May 2012 after coming under attack from the Somali army and the African Union peacekeepers.
