Al-Shabab militants have killed at least 10 people, including soldiers and civilians, in a key Somali town close to the capital Mogadishu after ramming a bomb-laden vehicle into a police station.
”We don’t have the exact number of casualties so far but we have seen the dead bodies of more than 10 people, including civilians, who were killed in the attack,” Abdukadir Ahmed, a local police official, told AFP by phone, adding that the attackers also suffered casualties.
The al-Shabab militant group has claimed responsibility for the latest deadly attack, which sent shock waves across the region.
The terrorist group had evacuated the key town in May 2012 after coming under attack from the Somali army and the African Union peacekeepers.
