A million Afghan children under five suffer malnutrition, which makes them vulnerable to diseases easily curable in other countries, according to a report from the United Nations.
Malnutrition is the “silent murderer” of Afghan children, says the report of the Office United Nations for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
“For every 1,000 children born, 55 die before their fifth birthday,” the report mentioned, adding that 82 percent of that number will die before their first birthday.
The number of malnourished children is relatively high especially among the displaced population and is increasing due to the current conflict.
